10/2/2019 0 Comments Squatober Day 2Day 1 down and today is another day. I feel pretty good today just the start of being a little sore. I worked out in the evening yesterday so plan on feeling more after 24 hours. Here are some of the things that I took away from yesterday's workout.
1. I am stronger than I thought. 2. Although I still feel strong my endurance is not good. 3. It is great to have an idea of where your max is. 4. My wife rocked it yesterday! With the first bullet I have always had the mentality (along with my Dad and my brother Jordan) that I can move anything I want and that I never turn down a strength feat. I am not a person to boast on myself but it is a pride thing for me to move something. The other point on strength is man I am a lot weaker than I want to see myself. I feel that this month I will see much improvement. 2nd thing is that I have always had good endurance but of course like when I was in 5th grade it is much better with training. To combine strength and endurance is something that has to be worked at which was proven to me yesterday. Even though Squatober is not an endurance based workout I am going from no training at all to Day 1 of Squatober. Hope to see this improve and get easier over the month. With my max I put a guesstimate of 350lb for squat which may or may not be unreasonable. What do you think? My bench I put at 300lbs. Since I didn't and haven't maxed since I was 18 and now am 34 I am a little lost on my max for each lift. I know that it is extremely close to each other but I truly believe I could do those weights. What is your opinion? The tough part is my strength to endurance but that will change. Lastly my wife has impressed me greatly. It has been 5 or more years since we have tried to lift together at all. At that time she had not really lifted before. Oh that is a way to test a marriage! Normally my wife and never bicker but I found that Squat was the exercise that we realized was not a lift we should do together. Until I found out our problem. I kept telling my wife that she needed to keep her heels planted and not lean so far forward. I wasn't upset with her more concerned that she my injure her back or fall forward with the weight. She of course and understandably was trying everything she could to keep her heels down and also get as low as she could. Long story short I ran into a friend of mine (Dr. Seth Hudson) and I told him I was in a bit of trouble over our lifting session. AND this is where I learned about Dorsiflexion. Interesting enough this made perfect sense. I told my wife about it and apologized over trying to correct something that is not an instant fix. So we started on some different exercise to help improve her flexion. This is something that is not uncommon for women (sometimes even very fit women) and some men as well. I will try and go over this more at a later date. But for the past 3-6 months my wife has being doing workouts over her lunch break. She does not work close to Fit24 so she uses a community gym and has become quite confident around the weight room! I am really impressed with her! Can't wait to do today's Squatober! Thanks for the support! TLMD

AuthorHi my name is Trever Duncan. I started Fit24 in the Summer of 2013. I have always loved fitness but have fallen away from it over the past few years (crazy to imagine having started a fitness center). Although I remain active through my various hobbies on my small property and enjoyment of moving things which has allowed me to keep my strength up to an extent. My first true fascination was running. I failed in the 5th grade on winning the mile so I decided to run everyday for a whole year. My 6th grade year I came back after self training running a 5:56 mile. My second love was wrestling which has been my favorite ever since I failed by getting cut by the 8th grade basketball team. Therefore started to wrestle. Thank God I did. I ended up winning my high schools top athlete award by my senior year and having(https://house.mo.gov/billtracking/bills03/hlrbillspdf/4178C.01.pdf). Funny how failure leads to success. And this is were I had decided to start blogging to show others sometimes the best success comes from failure or at least mine have! ArchivesCategories
